The LAPA annual conference will be held in Rotorua from 5th to 7th September, for further details click here. Two asset management sessions scheduled.
The SPM stand will have NAMS Property trained people available to discuss the manual, web site and Demonstration System, so please feel free to discuss any questions with them. A copy of the NAMS Property Manual will given away!
John O’Brien (Auckland City) and Steve Lyons (SPM) will be hosting a workshop on Levels of Service and Project Prioritisation at the conference.
Recognised in India
An organisation from India is currently negotiating a training programme for NAMS Property within the hotel and commercial property industry across India.
There is a real demand for recognised asset management process and trainers and this company has chosen NAMS as THE recognised international leaders.
NZ Treasury's CAM Framework
The workshop with 9 Central Government Agencies held in early August confirmed that the NAMS Property principles would be used as a common basis for doing ‘better asset management planning’ going forward. A further workshop will be held with these Agencies within the next month to explore ways in which to further learn from Agencies that are already following the NAMS Framework. The intention is to have a similar framework across each Agency so that data and terminology is consistent and to ensure information and knowledge can be shared.
John O'Brien from Auckland City Council attended the workshop on behalf of NAMS Group and shared Local Government experiences over the past decade
A participant from the Treasury workshop referred to the
Asset Management Framework slide presented by Steve Lyons of SPM as clarifying how the asset management process and implementation of captital projects relate. This slide may also help others...
Training on the Asset Planning Demonstration System
To gain full appreciation of how to do asset management planning, the NAMS Property manual was designed to be used in combination with the demonstration asset planning system.
Many members have indicated that they would like some training on the use of the on-line Demonstration Asset Planning System. Many people just haven’t got the time to read through the quick-start guide within the NAMS Property manual let alone the on-line help within the system.
As mentioned in July's newsletter, SPM is offering a complimentary half day training session in Auckland on 10th September. The interest has been very good with the session nearly full. This is your final chance to register. Please click here to register your interest.
Property Benchmarking Study
A property benchmarking study offered earlier this year to organisations using the NAMS Property framework and have a good set of asset data at component leve,l is finally being undertaken. It is expected that half of these organisations will be in a position to participate directly, with the other half providing their data for the benefit of others. General selected anonymous results will be provided in the NAMS Property toolbox in coming months.
